The uncertainty in Galactic parameters

چکیده
We reanalyse the measurements of parallax, proper motion, and line-of-sight velocity for 18 masers in high mass star-forming regions presented by Reid et al. (2009). We use a likelihood analysis to investigate the distance of the Sun from the Galactic centre, R0, the rotational speed of the local standard of rest, v0, and the peculiar velocity of the Sun, v⊙, for various models of the rotation curve, and models in which allow for a typical peculiar motion of the high mass star-forming regions. We find that these data are best fit by models with non-standard values for v⊙ or a net peculiar motion of the high mass star-forming regions. We argue that a change in v⊙ is much more likely, and that these data support the conclusion of Binney (2009) that V⊙ should be revised upwards from 5.2 km s −1 to 11 km s. We find that the values of R0 and v0 that we determine are heavily dependent on the model we use for rotation curve, with model-dependent estimates of R0 ranging from 6.7 ± 0.5 kpc to 8.9 ± 0.9 kpc, and those of v0 ranging from 200 ± 20 km s −1 to 279 ± 33 km s. We conclude that these data do not provide evidence for any particular values of R0 or v0 within these ranges. However, we find that v0/R0 is better constrained, lying in the range 29.9− 31.6 km s kpc for all models but one.

The effect of variation of stellar dispersion velocities by the galactic latitude in interpreting gravitational microlensing observations
Our galaxy is a spiral galaxy and its stars are mostly in a thin disk and rotate around the galactic center. The vertical component of the dispersion velocity of stars is a function of the galactic latitude and decreases with increasing it. In the galactic Besancon model, this dependence is ignored and they just consider the dependence of dispersion velocity on the stellar age. Becanson model i...

One of the main factors for satellite design is simulating of total ionizing dose due to space ionizing rays in devices used in space. By measurement of induced dose based on available data in different altitudes, expenses of designing, satellite weight and amount of needed fuel will be reduced. Optimum design of satellite for protecting satellite against ionizing radiation has considerable eff...
متن کاملDesigning a Fractional Order PID Controller for a Two-Area Micro-Grid under Uncertainty of Parameters
Increasing the number of microgrids has raised the complexity and nonlinearity of the power system and conventional controllers do not present acceptable efficiency in a wide range of operation points. In this study, a fractional order proportional–integral–derivative controller optimized with hybrid grey wolf-pattern search algorithm is used to control the frequency of each area of the microgr...
متن کاملFlood Hydrograph Simulation with Uncertainty in Rainfall - Runoff Parameters
Flood hydrograph simulation is affected by uncertainty in Rainfall – Runoff )RR( parameters. Uncertainty of RR parameters in Gharasoo catchment, part of the great Karkheh river basin, is evaluated by Monte–Carlo (MC) approach. A conceptual-distributed model, called ModClark, was used for basin simulation, in which the basin’s hydrograph was determined using the superposition of runoff generated...

Some structural control systems have been devised to protect structures against earthquakes, which the tuned mass damper (TMD) being one of the earliest. The effect of a tuned mass damper depends on its properties, such as mass, damping coefficient, and stiffness. The parameters of tuned mass dampers need to be tuned based on the main system and applied load. In most of the papers, the paramete...
